Caffè Riccardo sits just off Liverpool’s dock road on Regent Street, offering a distinctly Italian take on the local café scene. This is not your usual chain coffee stop—here, the focus is very much on expertly roasted beans, freshly ground in-house, and crafted into thoughtfully prepared espresso-based drinks. The scent of roasting coffee fills the air, creating a warm, inviting backdrop that often draws in a steady flow of locals looking for a serious caffeine fix.

The atmosphere feels relaxed and cozy, with sunlight streaming through large windows that brighten the quirky, unpretentious interior. It’s the kind of place where baristas are not just behind the counter but warmly engage with customers, happy to share their coffee knowledge and recommendations. Whether you’re popping in for a quick single espresso shot or settling in with a flat white and a pastry, there’s a friendly vibe that makes you want to stay a while.

The menu, while focused on coffee, stretches beyond just drinks. There’s a neat balance between sweet and savory options, including traditional Italian cannoli and freshly made piadinas—both vegetarian and non-vegetarian varieties. These make for a satisfying lunch or snack alongside your coffee, especially if you’re keen on authentic Italian flavors. The cioccolata calda (Italian hot chocolate) also appears to be a comforting choice as the weather cools down.

If you’re the kind who appreciates the craft behind your coffee and enjoys a bit of local conversation, mid-mornings to early afternoons seem like prime times to visit. Regular customers mix with curious newcomers, creating a low-key but sociable environment. The owner’s approachable and unhurried manner adds to this atmosphere, making it a spot not just for coffee but for casual connections and a genuine taste of Italian café culture in Liverpool.

Those who enjoy supporting independent businesses with a thoughtfully curated experience will find Caffè Riccardo particularly rewarding. It blends good coffee, simple but authentic food, and an informal, inviting setting that feels a world away from busy city-center chains.

Caffè Riccardo is a standout spot with the best coffee in Liverpool. The drinks are expertly made, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Cozy atmosphere, good pastries, and top-quality coffee. Highly recommended!

Caffe Riccardo is my “go to” place for the best coffee in Liverpool. Riccardo roasts the beans on his premises and the aroma during the process is so inviting. If you want a warm welcome and truly authentic Italian coffee, food and atmosphere head to Riccardos. Fantastic place to meet new and interesting people who are always willing to chat.

Only popped in for a coffee, but enjoyed a piadina, yummy and pistacchio croissant. Riccardo was so friendly and happy to explain about drinks etc. It was all tasty and coffee was great so much so we bought some freshly ground beans to enjoy at home. Its a quirky indipendente along the dock road, will visit again

A great little caffè, just off the dock road. It has a lovely quirky interior, and relaxed vibe with loads of light. The owner, (Riccardo?) was very chill and lovely, and was receptive to my idle chatter about how great I feel his homeland is. He even made recommendations on better life choices - mainly upgrading my decaffeinated coffee to a Ginseng coffee instead, and wow! I'm hooked! There seems to be quality products on the shelves (moma oat milk included) which is always a win. Foodwise - a simple but good looking menu. What more does one want on a rainy Saturday morning? I had one of the delicious italian flatbreads (piadina) - the traditional prosciutto di parma one, which was made with patience and care, grilled to perfection, tasted delicious throughout and was nicely filling (the flatbread itself was heeeaven!). I for one will definitely be visiting again. P. S. The picture is of my mostly eaten piadina. It was only when near-finished nomming the realisation hit that this momentus occasion required documentation!

Best coffee I had in UK by far. Riccardo roasts beans in store and makes the best coffee you can imagine. Great selection of sweet bites with genuine Italian cannoli (and I mean genuine, truly Italian) and great choice of savoury Italian food. I also bought a bag of really fantastic quality coffee beans. All reasonably priced and in sophisticated and pleasant atmosphere. I wish I lived closer…

Found this little Gem by accident but what a Find ! The coffee was absolutely lovely and the Piadina that we both had was just delicious The lovely guy who i presume is the owner was very informative . He recommended the Piadina as we hadn't had one before and we wasn’t disappointed it was italian flatbread similar to a wrap but nicer. Highly recommend 5

Such amazing coffee. Freshly roasted beans. One cup was not enough. Pistachio croissant was also good. We ordered a sandwich too. Good variety but the coffee by far was the best I’ve had anywhere. Service was impeccable.

My daughter was performing at Primal Live in the Invisible Wind Factory which is next door to this cafe. We fancied some hot drinks so I called in here to get two teas and an Americano. It felt really cozy and like a proper old school Italian cafe. I have to say, the Americano I got was the nicest tasting coffee I have had in many years. This cafe is a little out of the way, but if you love great tasting coffee, it's well worth a visit and I certainly feel like making a return visit to sample that Americano again!
